Who We Are

Mission: To Foster Recovery, Build Independence, and Change Destinies.

Founded in 1978 in Portage County as a nonprofit community behavioral health agency, Coleman was named for Father Kevin Coleman, a man driven by both his faith and advocacy for mental health. Coleman Health Services has expanded its service areas and capabilities. Now a nationally-recognized nonprofit, Coleman offers comprehensive behavioral health, residential, employment and supportive services to nine Ohio counties and surrounding communities.

Coleman Health Services aspires to improve the health and mental wellness of our communities through compassionate, evidence-based services and support.

What We Do

We offer the comprehensive, whole person treatment to children, adults and families in the communities we serve – regardless of their ability to pay. Services include:

  • Clinical Services – Fostering Recovery: We offer behavioral health, counseling, substance use treatments, psychiatry, and crisis intervention as well as unique programs like FIRST for first psychotic episodes and FACT for life skills, employment, and other training for fathers. These services aim to empower individuals to start a new chapter in their lives.
  • Residential Services – Building Independence: We empower clients to achieve self-reliance through housing assistance, group housing, and youth transitional programs, including apartment living and budget management. These programs prepare individuals for independent living and long-term stability.
  • Supportive Services – Transform Lives: Supportive services include guardianship and family care, jail liaison support, adult protective services, adult day care services and eldercare case management.
  • Employment Services – Change Destinies: Employment services empower people to complete their education and build the skills they need to secure employment that matches their abilities. It includes job matching, assistance with interviewing, securing transportation and more.
