Who We Are

AmeriCorps empowers people of all ages to serve their communities through volunteerism and civic engagement. By addressing critical needs such as education, health, independence, and community support, AmeriCorps connects individuals with opportunities to create lasting impact. Through programs like the Foster Grandparent Program, Senior Companion Program, and Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, older adults can share their skills and compassion to improve lives while enriching their own.

What We Do

The Senior Companion Program (SCP) recruits individuals 55 and older to volunteer as friends and companions to older adults living independently at home and at community centers. The volunteers earn a stipend for their volunteer time that does not affect monthly income. The support of volunteers enables older adults to live independently at home for longer periods of time. They also provide respite for caregivers of older adults. Our mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.
